Wiech Final Project

For my final project, I want to explore the concept of "click bait". This is a term typically used to describe ads whose whole purpose is to link people to another page, product, service, or other web location, with the intent of gathering some kind of information or installing some program onto the person's computer without their knowledge.

To keep within legal restraints I won't be stealing anyone's information or installing anything onto their computers. Instead, the site will feature a number of "too good to be true" ads designed to grab the viewer's attention. Juxtaposed amongst these ads will be a number of obviously fake pop ups that will more directly convey their disingenuous intentions. These pop ups will appear in response to the viewer clicking on one of these ads, and include links of their own.

If the viewer clicks on one of the ads after the pop up appears, they will be redirected through a number of different pages before landing on a final page that says, "Thank you for providing your credit card information", "Your social security number has successfully been posted to auction", "Your subscription to (insert disturbing webpage URL here) is now active", and more disturbing things that the viewer would not want to have happen while surfing the web.
If the viewer clicks on one of the pop up links their screen will be filled with additional pop ups until their screen is covered. Clicking on any of these links will direct the viewer to one of the landing pages from the ads. There will also be one ad, that if clicked on, will redirect the viewer to a page on safe web surfing practices.

My hope is that as the viewer explores the website they will also think about they explore other web pages. Some pages pose obvious dangers that most people know to avoid; however, even websites that appear legitimate on the surface can pose unknown dangers. Additionally, I hope that this project will serve as a safe place for the viewer to make their web surfing mistakes without any of the real repercussions of clicking on a suspicious ad on another site.

Sierra's Final Project

For my final project, I want to do a creative collaboration, where people can submit photos of their favorite places and they can link a brief story as to why it is their favorite place or what they love about it. It will highlight the positive aspect of network communication.

Amelia's Final Project

For my final project, I want to explore the way people make themselves appear on social media. I will mostly focus on Instagram and the false self-portraits so many people display. I hope to show a fake version and then incorporate a realistic picture nearby.

My project will include a generic-looking insurance site that allows the user a given amount of view-time before being assaulted with popups. The goal is to have so many popups appear at the same time that the browser will crash every time. I hate popups.

        My project will deal with the lack of privacy citizens have dealing with the internet and security. I plan on calling it LookOut Society. Ever wanted to see what your date is doing after you leave their house? Well, go ahead and type in their address to inconspicuously connect to and view for yourself through their laptop camera, phone camera, or any camera connected via Wifi. This site will deal with the problem following someone with the ability to hack others cameras. This use to be something we believed only those with government access could achieve, however, this can be done from anywhere at any time.

Hailley's Final Idea

For my final project I want to create a site based off the current issues with the Youtube platform. Currently creators are experiencing issues with demonetization, ad revenue, views, etc. My site would go into depth about "how to be a youtube creator" in today's corrupted age, sarcastically pointing out the things that need to change to create a more open platform for creators.

Drew's Final Project Idea

For my final project I am focusing breach of privacy in our lives today.
My site is going to be a heating and cooling company that uses your GPS location to know which room you are in in your house to decide whether or not to heat or cool the room you are in. It is a creepy because the company knows your exact location in your house and they know when you are not in the house. I am thinking of making my company name I/C U(nit) with the I being an actual eye.

Andy's Final Project Idea

For my final project, I was thinking about doing it on the positive benefits social media can play on society and as well as how it also has some negative effects on society. I wanted to create somewhat of an informative type of style website that allows readers to see clearly how networking with social media can affect our society. I do not have a clear cut idea of what the final website layout would look like, but I'll figure it out as I get there.

I tend to focus on the negatives in most situations, and I would like to do the opposite for my final project. I plan to touch on where we would be without technology. I'm not positive how I want to portray this. I really want exaggerate how the ability to see people from across the globes face is completely taken advantage of most of the time. I was considering creating a scene on photoshop to show what life would be like without technology at this point in time, but I will probably end up doing something that needs to be interacted with. Also probably more focused on smaller things, (such as the facetime/skype idea, and phone calls).
